Articulate of Ohio (Dept. of Job and Family Services) pays me unemployment compensation, but they don't reserve state tax. I'm currently living (mailing address) in Virginia looking for a job. Who has claim to my taxes ... Ohio or Virginia? Is the call based on the income source or the residence?

| Answer: If you get unemployment checks from OH, you must file OH benefit.Your Mailing address of VA will not exclude you from not filing tax return for OH unemployment. File 1040 OH Then classify VA 760 PY (part year resident) For your information, the first 2400 of the unemployment will be excluded by the software from any tax's.
