I presume from about the software in an answer to someone else's question about tax prep. I'm wondering whether is good, legitimate software or some sort of scam/spyware/adware.

Answer: yes, it's a safe from program with no spyware. (in the online version they ask you repeatedly to buy the state version and other add-ons but fitting answer no) You should still review the questions and compare the return with last year's tax recompense.

What Is Some Good Decently Priced Tax Prep Software With E-file?

Other than taxcut and turbotax. They indictment more than they are worth. I shouldn't have to pay $60 for something that I can do for free the old fashioned way. I'll probably just send in the paperwork. If it was impressive to the IRS for us to e-file they would make it cheap or free.
I know about the free e-file, but I sign over too much. I'm still cheap though :)
I guess you got lucky at Amazon. I'm looking right now, and they advertise $26 for steep + $32 for fed/state e-file.

Answer: So I was asking the same absurd and here is what I have found out.

Taxact is planning on processing the change into it's software by no later than Friday 2/27.

H&R Block is encouraging taxpayers to gap until 2009 but have an update scheduled for the middle of March.
