Do Local Tax Abatement Programs Have Any Affect On The New Home Buyer Tax Credit?

I'm looking for an accountant or tax dab hand with knowledge in this area to respond. I am purchasing a house in the next two weeks and the title house has said that I am eligible for a five-year tax abatement. I am wondering if it will have any affect on the new home client tax credit I'll receive in the new year or any years after.


Answer: My daughter and I both bought houses this year and both of us received the $8000 federal tax confidence in with no problems or strings attached. It was very simple to provide the information needed and there were no "conditions" beyond what is already well published.

If you are single for a 5 year tax abatement on the property, that is most defiinitely a state or local program that would not transform the federal program.

If you are escrowing your taxes and insurance with your lender, you even-handed need to make sure that they are aware of the correct amount to collect each month for taxes.

Having a tax abatement does not move the principal and interest payments on the loan.

so the property was assessed at only $40k, and then they re-assessed it at $149k.

but we were granted a tax abatement of $15k, so how fly at our tax bill for just seven months is an additional $2k how can that be?


Answer: Without expressive the specifics of your county, we don't know if the reassessment was a general one or due to construction (formerly an empty lot) or if the tax rate also changed.

I assume trust to the $15k tax abatement just means that you would temporarily be taxed on $149 - $15k = $134k in preference to of $149k. It does not necessarily mean that your taxes would not go up from what they were when it was assessed at $40k (for whatever reasoning).
