Changed Jobs And Have Already Satisfied The Social Security Tax Limit With The Old Job.?

I changed jobs in September and had already paid the extremity tax for social security $6324.00. Now am paying again the full amount deducted with the new job. Is there a way to adjust my deductions for the remainder of the year to not pay duplicate social sedcurity tax?

Why Is There An Income Limit On Social Security Tax?

If you decamp more than $106,800 you no longer are taxed for Social Security. This seems discriminatory to me. Can anyone tell me the rationale?


Answer: Because, you don't accrrue social security benefits on profits of more than $106,800. So the rationale is that you shouldn't have to pay for something that you aren't going to receive any benefit.

And it's not discriminatory as the overlook is equally apllied to everyone.

Are You Aware That Social Security Tax Limit Goes Up Every Year?

During Bush's stint as President, as in every presidents term, the SS tax on your paychecks has gone up every year.

In 2006 the limit was $94,200
2007 - $97,00
2008 - $102,000

I don't discern about you but as a woman I haven't reached the limit in over 30 years! I don't know too many men who will reach that limit for 2008 . So what is the big act on if they raise it again to reach the richest Americans, it won't affect 90% of you, and I will bet that

How Is Percentage Of Social Security Tax Determined Once Over The Limit?



Answer: Surplus Social Security or Railroad Retirement Tax Withholding
Most employers must withhold social security tax from your wages. The federal management and state and local governments in some cases do not have to withhold social security tax from their employees' wages. If you occupation for a railroad employer, that employer must withhold tier 1 railroad retirement (RRTA) tax and stratum 2 RRTA tax.

Once the limit is reached for the year, the employer can stop withholding
