Does Anyone Know Details And Could Explain The MI Single Business Tax ?

On August 9, 2006 The Michigan Legislature voted to edit out the state's single business tax? How will this impact Michigan?


Answer: All businesses in Michigan are grounds to the following taxes.

Property (they pay on average $40-$50 per thousand dollars of value)

Adverse Property Tax -tax on all the equipment /furniture /fixtures /computers the business own. We have around $300,000 of equipment (that is extremely worth only $100,000 or so) that we pay about $5000 taxes on EVERY DAMN YEAR

Unemployment Tax - From $90-$900 dollars per hand annually.

Can You Opperate More Than One Business Under A Single Tax Id Number. Do I Need An EIN Too?

I am starting an e-business and I will necessity a Tax Id number and I plan on having more than one website. Do I have to have a Tax Id number for each website. When I try to research tax id I see EIN alot. What is the rest?


Answer: That depends on how you catalogue raisonn your business when you get the original license. I have listed my business as retail with many products. I have three website all with a different name selling the products I destitute up into three businesses, but all listed under the original one. The main one is the parent company over the other two. You just have occasion for the one tax ID. But if you are going in a complete different direction with the second I would be safe and add a second certify.

I was nothing but wondering if it will be better to have 2 accountants where one will do my business tax while the other will prepare my tax return...


Answer: Unique proprietorships are not taxable entities. They are simply an extension of the individual. In other words, if your business makes a profit of $50,000 this year, your intimate taxable income (before deductions) is that same $50,000. The business pays no tax itself.

Any CPA firm will be able to counsel you through the process. Even the tax specialists (H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt, etc) will be able to handle these types of returns. TurboTax or TaxCut (even the root versions)

How To File Income Tax For A Self Employed Or Single Business Owner? (first Year)?

Answer: Assuming that you will still be filing a individualistic income tax return the profit or loss from your business activity will be calculated on a Schedule C. That amount will be reported on Track 12 of your Form1040. Within the Schedule C there may be some taxes that you will have paid and they will be used to make up for your income. If your profit exceeds $400 you will be subject to Self Employment tax which is 15.3% of your net profit however your will be allowed to rearrange your total income
