I'm looking at reducing the amount of property tax I pay each year in Texas. Does anyone discern how much on average can a resident save if he/she protest their residential property tax?

Answer: Yes if the complete amount is invested! if less amount is invested then pay tax for the remaining amount

I might have to move to a minute town in NE for a couple years for work and want to find out whether or not buying a house for that continually is worth it. I just want a ball park estimate on the tax rate 1%, 5%, 85%?

Sale Of Real Property (part Of Residential Property) And Tax Liability?

Investors deficiency to buy parcels of my' land (and my neighbors) in the backyard to build a residential development. I am considering it but I would like to procure a deal with them where I would allow them to develop the land but I would keep the specific lot behind my house so I could sell that lot in the coming.
What would my tax liability be if 1) I flat out sold the land for a lump sum and 2) if I sold the rights to come forth on the land but kept the lot for future sale.


Answer: 1) If you sold the property as a mass sum you would be subject to capital gains taxes on any gains you have made on the property. (The price you purchased the property - what it sold for). Those gains can be offsets by peerless losses you might have incurred in the stockmarket. Capital gains are 50% I believe.
