Should I Still Receive A Property Tax Bill If I Pay Through Escrow?

I purchased my first outfit last summer. From what I understand, my property tax payments are made through my mortgage. Today I received a property tax bill in the mail. Should I still inherit this bill in the mail if I pay through my mortgage, or is something wrong? For reference, I live in Clawson, Michigan.

Thanks for any recommendation!

Answer: your mortgage entourage is supposed to pay, but you need to call them asap to make sure they did. this happened to me with countrywide. i got the bill and false they paid it. well, they didn't and I got stuck with the penalty. not to mention they were keeping all that escrow rhino for free.

We bought a business in may and the old owner paid the property taxes from January - April into our escrow account. We paid our whole property tax bill in December, and now we are filing our taxes. Can we knock off our WHOLE property tax bill, or only the total minus the amount that was put into our escrow account from the previous owner. Thanks!

Answer: You pay the amount paid from your island. Reimbursed amounts cannot be deducted.

Do The Mortgage Companies Take A Percentage Of My Property Tax Bill?

I heard that it is preferably to pay my own property taxes because the mortgage companies take a percentage of the bill. Is this just a rumor or is there any truth in this?

Answer: Although all of the answers so far are legal I am going to give you a bit of a different answer.

The answers to your questions are yes. Yes, it is a rumor that they take a percentage. And the reply to "is there any truth in this" is also yes.
