Live In MD But Worked In CT And DC.. Which State Tax Forms Do I Fill Out??

Hello, so my claim of residence from 1/06-2/06 was CA. Then I moved MD and so from 6/06-present, MD has been my state of residence.. In 2006, though my specify of residence was MD, I worked during school up in CT and in the summer time, I worked in DC. I received my W-2's from the CT and DC jobs.. Which government tax returns do I need to fill out? I havn't filed for the CT and DC jobs yet but when I filed my MD taxes, it showed I owed MD the ready.. Oh yea, also, I used Turbo Tax for all this..

Answer: First, your DC return should have taxed as income in MD, not in DC. If your DC employer didn't do that right, then you should be able to file a DC restoration to get all the DC money back (in part to cover your payment to MD),

As for the CT return, you can file either a partial-year or non-living tax form in CT so that you can potentially get those funds back as well. You should be able to file online for accessible in DC (see link in sources).

My W-2 Forms Have Tax Withheld For NJ & MD. I've Lived & Worked In NJ But Never In MD. How To File My Return?

For some dark reason my employer has deducted MD tax starting 10/31/2007 and stopped deducting NJ tax even though I have been living and working all along in NJ and never lived or worked in MD. I am yet to rank my 2007 return. Have contacted my employer today but no answer received so far. Questions: 1. Do I chronologize my NJ and MD state tax even though I have never worked in MD? 2. Should my employer send me a corrected W-2? But what will stumble on to the state tax already withheld with MD?

Answer: You privation to call your employer and find out if the tax really was withheld to MD (do you have any payroll stubs from November or December? Those would show it if it was), or if it's lawful a W-2 error, and doesn't reflect the actual withholding.

My guess would be that it's the former.

First - make steadfast payroll has fixed that problem for this year!

If you had MD tax erroneously withheld, then you'll need to line a Maryland Non-resident tax return

NJ Tax Question. Do I Pay Taxes On Earnings When I Lived In Another State?

My MD tax manifestation lets me deduct all earnings for after I moved to NJ. My NJ form seemingly asks for everything I made, then taxes me on everything -- even what I made in MD. They give a delicate little percentage off, but it looks as if they want their greedy hands on earnings I've already been taxed on. Yes I filled out the Calendar A. Hell I can't even deduct my student loan interest payments. F them. The Feds and MD allow that, but Jersey won't. I'm leaving this inconsequential excuse

Answer: Large, you should pay taxes in the state where the income was earned regardless of where you were actually living. Skilled athletes may have to file in many different states if they play games in each state. I have always lived in MD but almost had to pay taxes in VA, Washington DC and Tennessee. However, the shape tax laws differ by state, some states don't even have state personal income taxes (like Florida). I don't be informed about NJ but you may have to get an actual tax accountant within interstate
