Do I Qualify For The Elderly And Disabled Tax Credit?

My grandmother is 83 years old. Her only revenues in 2010 was her SS benefits. She earned a total of $2676. Does she qualify for the Old tax credit? Please help.

Answer: If you are in the US every brilliance is different. Call your local senior center and ask them or your state representative.
 
 

Does The Disabled Access Tax Credit Only Apply To Modifications Made To Existing Buildings/structures?

Or can expenses incurred to secure easy access for disabled individuals for a NEW building be deducted as well?


Answer: Existing only. The costs of adapting an existing building can be significant. The added costs of compliance in a new structure (most of which need to be ADA compliant under most erection codes these days anyway) is negligible by comparison.

and what is the balance in eligibility between a single disabled person on middle rate care and low rate mobility DLA and the same themselves living with a full time working partner
well there is working tax credits with the disabled person ingredient. Basically my partner earns £23k p/a and we don't live together yet, but if we did and I was working 16 hours what would my entitlement be?


Answer: you seem to be a bit snarled up here..

there is no longer disabled working tax credit, its just working tax credit and you either eligible for it under theyre rules or your not. these are explained on the tax credit website hmrc.gov.uk

also the feature about single person being able to get dla/mobility to that person living with a full time working sidekick is irellevant.

DLA for care and mobility is not means tested , you are given it for your disability

Do Employers Take Advantage Of Disabled People By Earning The Tax Credit For Hiring Them, Then Laying Them Off?

Do employers take asset of the tax credit for hiring disabled people, then laying them off shortly after - or is there some type of regulation in place against doing this?


Answer: They do not get the tax credit until a child has been employed full-time for 6 months and is off of benefits. So that is not such a quick process - so in general I judge not.
