I looked on the internet for the 2007 California profits tax brackets for single people. The first 3 sites I looked at had 3 slightly different sets of figures, but a representative example went something like this: $0-6,827, tax is $0 +1% of amount over $0. $6,827-16,185 tax is $68.27 + 2% of amount over $6,827...etc. and topping out at $44,814-over, tax is $1,973.07 + 9.3% of amount over $44,814.
